Living in Winfield, Indiana: Randolph Street, Crown Point Schools, and the New-Build Trade
We're the shop on South Main in Crown Point. Love Thy Neighbor. Call (219) 801-0432.
Winfield is the newer-street Lake County town buyers land on when they want a 2020s floor plan, Crown Point schools on many parcels, and more yard than a Square walk-up — and they are honest that they are not buying a downtown stroll. You feel Randolph Street when you run town errands. You feel 109th and the corridors that feed I-65 when the job sits farther north. There is no courthouse square here. That is not a slam. It is the trade.
Redfin's Lake County city table for June 2026 put Winfield's median sale at $412,901 (+0.7% YoY), with homes taking roughly 47 median days on market in that window and about 55 sales counted in June on Redfin's city read. Same table context from our other June posts: Crown Point $329,821, Lowell $358,705, Schererville $350,309, St. John $448,596. Price the house against solds on the same block — not against a slogan.

Where Winfield actually sits
Winfield is Lake County, Indiana, ZIP 46307. Recent Census ACS counts put the town near 7,500 people — a small, growing town east of Crown Point, not a highway megaplex. Town Hall sits at 10645 Randolph Street (Suite A for administration / building; Clerk-Treasurer in Suite C). Official permits, calendar, and services live with the Town of Winfield.
Randolph Street is the civic spine most buyers already know. Neighborhood streets and newer subdivision loops are quieter. Those are not the same listing. Doubletree and other named communities show up in searches — still confirm the HOA, the lot, and the school map for the pin you actually want.

Homes and money talk (2026)
Use closed sales. In the June 2026 Redfin Lake County city table, Winfield's median was $412,901 (up about 0.7% year over year). Redfin's three-month city read ending June also showed homes taking longer than some north-county streets — around 47 days versus faster clocks elsewhere on the same county table. Context from that same June table: Crown Point a step under on the blended median, Lowell and Schererville lower, St. John higher. (A separate May–July 2026 Redfin county blog window shows Winfield nearer $423,788 with about 4.0 months of supply and 48 median days — do not mix windows without labeling. This post sticks to the June 2026 city table unless noted.)
A $413,000 purchase at recent 30-year rates is a different monthly number than the same house looked like in 2021. Run taxes and insurance on the specific parcel. Indiana property tax is not a Facebook average.

Randolph Street, newer streets, and the week you would actually live
Daily life here is a car week. Groceries, sports, and dinner pull you toward Crown Point corridors and the commercial loops nearby — not a square you stroll after coffee. Town Hall sits at 10645 Randolph. Randolph Street Park at 11900 Randolph Street is a real Tuesday-night test of neighborhood feel (Harvest Festival lands there in mid-September most years). Do not buy the pin. Buy the route you would drive on a school night.
After a showing I will name the street rhythm, not invent a restaurant ranking. Winfield is east of our South Main shop. That hop is a short drive — it is not walkable. If you want the courthouse square week, Crown Point still does that job.
The commute you actually drive
There is no South Shore station in Winfield. Rail is a drive toward Dune Park / Lakeshore Corridor stops or the Monon Corridor towns if the train is your week. Most Winfield workers are a car story: Randolph and 109th feeding toward I-65, then north when the job is farther up Lake County or Illinois. We will not invent a downtown Chicago drive time. Drive it at the hour you would actually leave.
Buyers who need rail every day should map parking and the current timetable first — or keep looking closer to the stations.
Schools: confirm by address
Many Winfield addresses sit in the Crown Point Community School Corporation, which also serves Crown Point and parts of Cedar Lake. Winfield Elementary (Winfield Wildcats) is part of that district — the school site lists 13128 Montgomery Street. Confirm the boundary for the lot you are buying. Edges can sit near other Lake County districts. Do not take a listing remark as the map. We will not invent a rating.

FAQ
What do homes cost in Winfield in 2026?
Redfin's Lake County city table for June 2026 put the Winfield median sale at $412,901 (+0.7% YoY). That is a blended city median. Newer subdivision stock and older pockets are not the same product. Price any offer to the last closed sales on the same block.
Is Winfield cheaper than Crown Point?
On purchase price in that same June 2026 table, Winfield's median ($412,901) sat above Crown Point ($329,821). You are often buying newer floor plans and a different week — not a discount on the Square.
Is there a South Shore station in Winfield?
No. Most Winfield weeks are a car story on Randolph, 109th, and I-65. Confirm parking and the current timetable before you treat the train as the commute.
What schools serve Winfield?
Many addresses are in Crown Point Community School Corporation. Winfield Elementary is part of that district. Confirm the parcel on the official CPCSC map. Do not take a listing remark as the boundary.
Does Winfield have a downtown square?
No courthouse square. Civic life runs through Randolph Street and Town Hall at 10645 Randolph. If the square is the week you want, keep Crown Point on the Saturday list.
